The Indian state of Goa is the only region in the country where gambling is allowed. Apart from offering a great range of casinos with a high diversity of games available, as for instance slot machines, blackjack and poker among many others, this is not the only resource that attracts so many tourists.
A privileged climate together with fantastic beaches is the main attraction for tourists of this region, which receives an average of 2.4 million of tourists every year. However, there is no doubt that the game industry is also a good source of economical resources for the area.
However, this industry is lately being affected by new laws that try to control the access of underage people to this kind of establishments.
Among other changes, these rules have brought an increase in the casino entrance, which has gone up from $4 to $10, and therefore is no longer accessible by many game fans. At the same time, there was an increase in the taxes imposed over the casinos revenue.
The casinos more affected by those measures are the ones located in the South of Goa, which have experienced a 90% decrease in the number of visitors, while the ones located in the North are already talking about a 50% decrease.
